Stromboli volcano excursion details for schools

We have developed considerable experience with Italian and foreign school children. We offer trips for middle and high schools, with emphasis on educational-cultural aspects.

The route for students

The excursion starts directly from the village, after a short time we reach the “old cemetery,” a small group of graves dating back to the early 1900s, surrounded by lush vegetation, climbing along a beautiful path we reach an altitude of 400 meters above sea level.

Moments not to be missed

  • Sunset: Arriving at an altitude of 400 meters just as the sun plunges into the sea is an unforgettable experience to see the warm colors of dusk mingle with the hues of the volcano. A vantage point from which to also look at the other Aeolian islands, particularly Salina, Filicudi and Alicudi.
  • Observation of eruptions: At a distance of about 350/400 meters as the crow flies and overlooking the famous “Sciara del Fuoco.” After a long stop we will return to the village via the Punta Labronzo mule track.

The hike in brief

Meeting point

Each of our hikes starts from our meeting point, where we will welcome you with a welcome drink as we begin to get to know each other and prepare for departure. Just before we leave, our volcanological guides will conduct a pre-departure briefing, telling you about the route we will take during the hike.

Departure

The hike begins with an initial route that will take us up to an altitude of XXmt in which to take a short break and enjoy a splendid view of Strombolicchio before setting off again.

Geology and Curiosities

During the ascent we will make a stop to discover together the extraordinary properties of volcanic rock by understanding the different types and then continue on our way to the observation points located at 400m.

Observation point 400Mt

Once we reach 400Mt we will station for about 1 hour witnessing the sunset and watching the explosions light up more and more as the sun fades into the sea. During this stopover it will be possible to observe the extraordinary spectacle of nature and take photographs or footage. We would like to remind drone pilots that the area is forbidden to fly due to current regulations.

Descent for return

It is time to turn on the lights on our helmet, the characteristic descent to the village begins, it will take 2 hours and we will arrive at the starting point, again overlooking strombolicchio, which on moonlit evenings will be illuminated by natural light. Our hike will then end in St. Vincent Square in front of the church.
